This is such a kick -ass CD back in the day my sound man and I played this constantly. No one else had this CD and we turned many people on to this Music. Still sounds great after all these years. Love You-Tube for this kind of stuff. ROCK-ON Glenn Augustyn

Wicker Digital Media
Been listening to this album since it's release. Never get's old. Utopia were all superior musicians. Can't ask for better with Todd manning the lead. I only wish they had more success.
DizziNY1
The first Utopia album I bought, and still my favorite, it's a typical day on the road to Utopia
derbystardom
Adventures in Utopia is freaky good album! I put it in the top 100 albums of all time....it is in my personal top 10. The best song I believe on this album is Caravan... but, what an album!!!!
David Henry Lake
I am embarrassed to say I just discovered Todd and Utopia last night due to a recommendation by a friend. He saw them last night in concert. Thanks Mike! You rock!
Laura Stolarz

It's really too bad that Todd and David Bowie never worked together.

Like many other posters here, this was also my first Todd/Utopia album- I had managed to wear the grooves off three copies (though the tonearm on my CS515 did its best to keep on track) before I bought the CD copy. Bolt ahead some 30+ years and I met Roger Powell, purely by chance, at my workplace. He was whimsically amusing as he guessed correctly that I was wondering if he could be "the" Roger Powell. He introduced himself by name, and added that he had been a musical cohort of TR. "Of course!" I exclaimed. "Adventures is one of my all-time faves!" He could only chuckle with me; how many times has he had the very same exchange with other fans over the years? A true gentleman, it was an honor to meet him in that fashion. And, while Utopia and his other musical projects have been inspiring some three generations of fans, and he has been extremely busy in other successful endeavors in the years since, he is still honoring that connection that he, TR, Willie, Moogy, Kevin, Kasim and the rest had back in the day. You have to love the guy!
kenton jones
once  was  in  a  bad   place   heard   this  song     recovered!

by far this is one of my favorite utopia albums. my other faves include, oops, wrong planet, & that "beatle-esque lp they also released in 1980.

cosmicdrifter287
the man from utopia.
Brecon Walsh
I wrote Todd Rundgren a three page letter in 1979 concerning all the synchronicities I discovered in my favourite film "2001: A Space Odyssey".His PA at Panacea Management wrote me a charming letter saying Todd had read my letter with interest and made a few jocular quips about our water draining counter-clockwise in the southern hemisphere, then less than a year later, Utopia released "The Road to Utopia" which had this obvious reference to Stanley Kubrick's watershed film as the cover and I recalled my letter to him in late 1979!
Tracy Langdon Quintrell
I don' t know how I didn't know this group back in the day, they are amazing! I only knew Feet Don't Fail Me Now from MTV. These guys are amazing!
DENNIS CARNEY
I still remember seeing one of his first concerts in NYC in the early 1970's just Todd , a guitar , a piano , and a reel to reel recorder with pre recorded tunes he played along with. Turned my wife into a major Todd Fan as well as his European sound man opened up a theatre in 2011 and Todd was the first act to play. As my wife is disabled in a wheel chair Todd did something he never does , changed his set to include medley from AWATS dedicated to her. Hoping his UTOPIA Tour stops in to play and that my wife gets out of the medical facility to see him.
Jim Marillo
always thought it was great music to grow up with even if we doing spacy things lol...

They knew how to open up an album back then.

Todd still stands for everything he sings: a real intellectual: saw him in Amsterdam with the  Philharmonic: listen and shiver..
Commish's Place
For those nutties who gave this a 'thumbs down', how about you let us know what YOU can do!
aliensporebomb
Amazing how the demos come "fully realized" and could have been released on their own. Great stuff!
James Rivard
I remember seeing Utopia at UMASS when they were on tour for this album. Todd puts on a great show. The drummer was on an platform the elevated and spun around. Very cool!
Alan Levy
Last Of The New Wave Riders is just a superb rock song...a massive stand out for me.
itsALLartVideos
You can hear where Adrian Belew and Hall & Oates got their sound... both directions are so different but both are present in this music. Todd rocks, plain and simple.
Paul Stanton
You're blowing my mind ! This was a missing piece of my memory.
dagwood953
Love Love Love Saw them twice on this tour ... Mind blown The whole universe is a giant guitar ~ String Theory
Roel Lassche
The Metropolitan is that; not much into classical, but this is great
Mark Martnick
Burnt this cassette out listening to it. Was fortunate enough to see Todd in 1977 and 1980. Willie Wilcox was in some sort of spinning drum set.

Nunyo Bidniz
Yeah, that version of "Don't Tie My Hands" kicks ASS. Why in the world that wasn't released as a single back in the day is beyond me.
reclaimerReclaimer
I Wonder if Van Halen got inspired for their hit song Jump, with the keyboards here on Love Alone? Just a thought, it's at least possible Eddie or somebody in the band knew it.
Padukem
Don't Tie My Hands -- got a lot of old old boots, but never heard this remake. Also Rundgren singing Umbrella Man, refreshes the old Kasim version nicely. Thanks for the post.
SRNF
Really? Kinda hard to believe lol

thnx for the hard work mojo. i had this as a bootleg on cass. when i was stationed in south korea way back in 82! it's funny how you get used to hearing the songs in a certain order. this lp. is perfect when it comes to that!!!
Urbs59

lordkiller1
ty so much for this its the most played song on my ipod now, the entire hour of it :)
ajarnfrankie
- Excellent! I had this on vinyl back in the day...
mojorisen74
No, It's a video I made out of frustration. There have been at least 4 remasters of TR's catalog that have no extras on them. In my opinion there's no sense in buying remasters if they are the same thing being rehashed every 4 years. This would be the ultimate remaster. It includes all of the tunes that were written for this album as well as some demos.
Jim Marillo
me too (on vinyl) I have a copy of Initiation still in the wrap! from a long time ago....
Jim Marillo
thanks! I have a few remastered cds from Todd. like OOP,S WRONG PLANET...and Ra... we saw Todd and the boys in cleavland at the Agora in Oct12

Neat! Remixes of The Last of the New Age Riders and Second Nature. Never heard Umbrella Man before..not their best effort and weird synth tune gets a bit interesting at the end...
peppermint383
Such a great band...so underrated, so criminally unknown. Should have been huge. The singing and playing is never less than breathtaking.
Jim Marillo

The demo of "Second Nature" likes me more than the version published in the album. "Nobody knows explain to me ..." because the demo seems to me better...

Personal "make-out" song back in the day.
Pedro Luis Avila
I love this album, one of my "favorite of all time" is "Second Nature". Even I have the original album (with lyrics included) manufactured in 1980 by a company printing services recordings of Indianapolis and is in perfect condition. A detail: In the printed lyric of "Second Nature" is not a part of the lyric and starts saying "Nobody knows ..."
